Emergency One Charity Cup 2018
Emergency One vs Scottish Fire
The UK’s leading manufacturers of Fire Engines, Emergency One, took on local Scottish Fire and Rescue Service fire fighters in the Emergency One 2018 Charity Cup. This was all in aid of buying a specially adapted wheelchair for one of Emergency One’s ex employees and also for the Fire Fighters Charity.
The thrilling game refereed by Craig Dunlop saw the fire engine builders take the lead after 10 minutes with the organiser Blair Walker chipping the keeper. That goal was closely followed by a second when Emergency One’s Sean Sweeney knocked one by the Scottish Fire keeper. Scottish Fire kept their heads up and Sam Shields brought the goal difference to one by blasting the ball into the top corner. At half time it was Emergency One 2-1 Scottish Fire.
After a motivational team talk by managers John Ross, Ian Jones and Mark Miller the teams came out in fighting spirit for the last 45.
Emergency One’s Anton Matuszczyk increased the gap with another goal for the fire engine builders but was closely followed by the last goal of the game by Scottish Fire’s Greig Allan.
The final score was Emergency One 3-2 Scottish Fire.
Before the players and supporters went off to enjoy the night entertainment, Elliot Boyce presented the Emergency One team with the charity cup trophy- kindly sponsored by Kerr & Smith- and awarded 58 year old Alex Ferguson with Man of the match.
